Our specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Practice offers the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial surgical procedures.
We are conveniently located at 26 McCourt Street, West Leederville, WA, 6007 with parking available at the front of the building.
We have a licensed day hospital, McCourt Street Day Surgery, which is located next door at 28 McCourt Street, West Leederville, WA, 6007.
We are a referral based specialty and invite referrals from Dental and Medical Practitioners and Specialists.

Our practice is led by two fully qualified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, with extensive training both in Australia and overseas. Together they bring a wealth of specialist expertise to every patient.
Dr Brent Allan

Dr Brent Allan graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Otago in 1982 and completed his Master of Dental Science (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) at the University of Western Australia in 1991.His specialist surgical training was undertaken in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, including advanced fellowships in implantology and orthognathic surgery in both the United Kingdom and Seattle. Dr Allan was Head of Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at St John of God Hospital, Subiaco from 1995–2025. Dr Allan has a long-standing special interest in implant rehabilitation and complex jaw reconstruction. He was the first surgeon to place zygomatic implants in Australasia and continues to lead in this field through ongoing clinical practice, teaching, and research. His principal surgical interests include correction of dentofacial deformity, orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial reconstruction, advanced implant surgery, and complex bone grafting procedures. Dr Allan has presented lectures and surgical training programs throughout Australia, Southeast Asia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Dr David Thean

Dr. Thean is a local dental graduate, completing his BDSc (Hons) at UWA, before undertaking his MD at Griffith University, and his internship and general surgery residency herein WA. He then was accepted into the competitive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program here in WA, rotating through Royal Perth Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital, Perth Children’s Hospital, and the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia. Dr. Thean has recently returned from an intensive craniofacial fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital. His advanced training has further deepened his expertise in the management of complex craniofacial conditions, cleft and craniofacial surgery, and global surgery. Dr. Thean brings with him not only technical excellence but also a compassionate and collaborative approach to patient care. He is passionate about working alongside dentists, doctors, and other specialists to ensure the highest standard of interdisciplinary care for patients of all ages.

Areas of Specialisation
A broad range of surgical procedures are offered at Perth Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with access to leading hospital facilities. Patients may have treatment performed under Local Anaesthetic, Intra-Venous (or “twilight”)Sedation or General Anaesthetic. We will discuss these options with you. Referrals from Dental and Medical Practioners and Specialists are welcome.
Dento-Alveolar Surgery
This includes tooth extractions, wisdom tooth extractions, tooth exposure and bonding or placement of Temporary Anchorage Devices (TAD’s).
Dental Implants and Grafting
Dental implants are titanium screws which biologically integrated into bone to provide a replacement for missing teeth. This may be a single tooth or replacement of multiple teeth.
Full Arch Implant Supported Cases
(“All-0n-4”)
For patients wearing upper and lower removable dentures and are not satisfied with the function of their dentures, there is the option All-On-4 implant surgery.
Zygomatic Implants
Zygomatic implants are longer implants which may be placed into the Zygoma bone of patients who are unsuitable for conventional implants. These implants are longer implants. As with All-on-4 cases, these implants then allow for placement of an implant retained bridge.
Orthognathic Surgery
Orthognathic surgery is also known as Corrective Jaw Surgery. It is surgery to correct a variety of facial and jaw abnormalities in which the facial bones and teeth do not meet correctly.
Distraction Osteogenesis
Distraction Osteogeneis is a surgical procedure to lengthen the bone of the jaws in patients with craniofacial defects.
Corticotomy
A Corticotomy procedure is used for expanding the maxilla (upper jaw) in adult patients. It is used is conjunction with an orthodontic appliance called a Rapid Maxillary Expansion (RME)appliance
Oral Pathology
Soft and hard tissue lesions of the mouth and jaws may require specialist assessment and diagnosis. Dr Allan and Dr Thean will review all results and further management will be discussed with you if required.
Facial Trauma and Fractures
Treatment of injuries soft and hard tissues of the face and jaw.
Craniofacial Surgery
Craniofacial surgery is the treatment of Congenital abnormalities, post traumatic reconstruction and reconstruction following tumour resection.
